religion VS. homosexuality having some major issues with my mom-all of a sudden telling me she cant handle me being gay (been with same woman for 6 yrs)and doesnt want to see me unless by myself-this all is circling around her religious beliefs-she is imo being brainwashed and I dont mean that as a joke by her "pastor"-she is mentally unstable due to her relationship with abusive husband who has forbidden her to see me unless by myself-she has always said this was his view not her but has to go by his rules-last night told me she feels the same way now-my ? is this-does anyone have links to info I could read about religion vs. homosexuality so that i can have some arsenal in my pocket or maybe pass along to her so she can read-i dont want to be petty and am very level headed-but talking to them is like talking to a brick wall-i know the bible pretty well -grew up with this-any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated-should also mention that I have refused to leave my family to go see her under these terms-we have 2 children and they only want to accept my bio not my stepchild-thanks in advance.

Others will have better links on religion and homosexuality, but I wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this. I think it's a good idea to keep yourself and your away from this toxic environment. Especially if your Mom wants to harangue you, exclude your partner and try to negate one of your children. Religion can be twisted to make people do some truly horrible things. One reason why I personally mistrust it.

Give your mom this book Prayers for Bobby. It's a true story, and it will really help give her some perspective.

I totally agree Bobby actually leaves town a few times and broke off contact, but hearing how evil and demented he was growing up really took it's toll. His mother found his journals and that is why the book was made. Oh I cried and cried. Especially because at the time I read it I was having issues with my mother. I couldn't bring myself to tell her about my sexuality. I would test the waters by bringing up gay marriage and she would compare it too child molestation or marrying goats. She told me she couldn't believe how I could be in favor of it and she thought she had raised me better. We don't speak of my sexuality, I let her live in her denial, but I don't hide who I am, and I know she is ok with me...she told me this year that "civil unions" if not marriage should be legal. Step in the right direction, huh?

this will be my story unless i can help them see the light-but i will not let them ruin the wonderful life i have.
